Consultation on A457 Junction Improvements Begins

4th January 2010
Following public consultation on a whole route strategy for the A457 Route 87 corridor in autumn 2008 local consultation has begun on detailed proposals for three junctions on the corridor.

The consultation now underway will run for two weeks from 4th January until 18th January 2010 and will cover improvements at the following junctions:

  1. Crocketts Lane / High Street junction
  2. A4030 High Street / B4169 High Street junction
  3. Fenton Street / St Paul's Road junction

Details of the proposals will be delivered to properties close to the scheme and will also be available on-line on the scheme website http://www.a457route87.co.uk. Members of the public are invited to provide their views on the proposals via a new questionnaire which is also available on the website. A457 Route 87 Plans Changed following Public Consultation

Following last autumn's public consultation, revisions to the proposed improvements on the A457 and Route 87 has been published. The consultation sought the opinions of the public on a range of proposals for the A457 corridor in Sandwell and for the Route 87 bus service in the Borough.

Following a review by Sandwell Council, twenty-two key changes have been made to the proposals. The changes were developed following the results and recommendations of the Consultation Report.

The consultation ran from 24th September to the 1st November 2008 and included information drops to 10,000 properties close to the route with a website at www.a457route87.co.uk providing full details on the proposals. A series of exhibitions were held at centres along the route where hundreds of people dropped in to see the proposals and discuss them with the project team.

A457 Route 87 Approved by Cabinet

28th April 2009
Following last autumn's public consultation, the proposed improvements on the A457 and Route 87 have been presented to Sandwell Council's Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods and Housing.

At the Cabinet meeting on the 28th April 2009 the proposals, along with the results of the Public Consultation and other representations were presented to the Cabinet member for review. The proposals for the scheme were considered by the Cabinet member and, subject to a number of conditions and changes, permission was given for the scheme to be taken forward for detailed design and implementation.

A457 Consultation Launched
