4 - Dudley Road West/Tividale Road between Burnt Tree Island and Twydale Avenue
Summary of the proposed route improvements for this section
Bus Stops
• Bus Stop facilities to be upgraded to Bus Showcase standards.
• New shelter or pole & flag, as appropriate to each location.
• Higher kerbs at every stop to allow easier access.
Pedestrian Refuges at key uncontrolled crossing points
• Provide safer crossing points to enable crossing one direction of traffic at a time.
• Better visibility for pedestrians.
• Shorter crossing distances.
Yellow line restrictions
• ‘No waiting at anytime’ yellow line restrictions applied along the length of the A4033 Tividale Road / Dudley Road West, except at formalised on-street parking bays.
Parking Bays
• Parking bays formalised with build outs or hatching to protect parked vehicles from passing traffic.
Hopkins Street signalised pedestrian crossing
• Upgrade of crossing facilities to a Puffin crossing to be investigated.
Hill Road signalised pedestrian crossing
• Upgrade of Zebra crossing facilities to a Puffin crossing to be investigated.
Junction Improvement at Groveland Road/Dudley Road West
• Build out to narrow junction providing a shorter crossing distance for pedestrians.
• Build out also reduces speed of vehicles entering Groveland Road from the west.

Today a two-week local consultation on improvements at three junctions on the A457 Route 87 begins.

Today twenty-two changes to the proposed improvements on the A457 and Route 87 have been published, following public consultation.

Following public consultation, the A457 Route 87 proposals have been given Cabinet approval to proceed to the next stage.
