E-Roway Lane/Brades Road/Dudley Road East Junction
Problems
The Roway Lane junction is a roundabout that suffers heavy congestion during morning and evening peak hours.
Pedestrian crossing facilities are inadequate and cars park along both arms of the Dudley Road East contributing to delay along this
section for both buses and general traffic.
Proposals
- Potential improvements to junction.
- The introduction of dedicated parking lay-bys on Dudley Road East on both sides of the junction (shown on plan below).
- Red route controls through the junction to control parking on-street.
- Bus stop upgrades to Bus Showcase standard to improve access to buses and relocation of bus stop on the westbound side of the junction to a position at the end of a proposed parking bay.
- Provide improvements for pedestrians.
- High friction surfacing on approaches to the junction.
Possible benefits
- Improved pedestrian facilities to provide safer crossing points.
- Improved traffic flow.
- Improved parking management and formalised parking facilities off-street.
