Consultation

Public consultation is an important part of the development of proposals for the A457 and Route 87 corridors. By consulting with local residents, route users and other interested parties a greater understanding of the current operation of the corridor along with a range of views on the likely impact of the proposals, can be built up.

Through this consultation we are looking for your input to assist the development of the proposals, your views on the ideas put forward, and any further suggestions you may have to improve the movement of all users along the A457 and Bus Route 87.

How will the consultation take place?

Following the main consultation, which took place between the 24th September and 1st November 2008, a local consultation will take place to review specific junction issues. The local consultation will take place from the 4th January until the 18th January 2010. The consultation will involve a number of activities to raise awareness of the proposals, gather views and opinions on their impact on the route and to feedback the results of the consultation. Activities planned for the consultation include leaflet and letter drops to local residents, advertising and information and a questionnaire available on-line. Unlike the main consultation there will not be a phone line nor exhibitions.

How can you find information on the proposals?

You will be able to find information on the proposals in a number of ways;
  • By picking up a newsletter, these will be displayed in a number of local central locations such as supermarkets, libraries and council offices. The leaflets will explain the scheme, give specific details of some proposals and provide contact details alongside this website address to allow you to find further information.
  • If a local resident by a letter and leaflet through your door.
  • Through advertising.
  • On this website, which displays specific details of all proposals.

Leaving feedback on the proposals

Your ideas are valuable to us, to collect your ideas we will ask you to complete the on-line response questionnaire.

Does it make any difference?

In short, yes. All feedback, comments and views received at consultation will be thoroughly reviewed and where necessary further work will be undertaken to investigate issues raised. The local consultation is the third phase of review. Changes have already been made to the scheme and the local consultation is designed to address concerns which have arisen to date.

Where problems are identified then the design team will try to address them through revisions to the proposals. However, it is never possible to address all concerns and priority is given to significant issues and those raised most often. Even then, the broad principles of the scheme cannot be changed.
